Web Conferencing Help
System Requirements

WSCLL uses ShareItNow™ for many of its web conferences and web casts. While we expanding use of the Skype™ tools, ShareItNow™ remains a popular tool for use in online training and interaction in our distance education program.

First the system requirements from the ShareItNow.com™ website located at www.shareitnow.com/help/.

System Requirements Participants

Computer System

Processor: 233Mhz or above (400Mhz and above recommended for the presenter using ShareItNow™ Web Window)

Memory: 64 MB RAM for attendees, 128 MB for presenters

Operating System

Windows 95, 98, 2000, and XP

Windows NT (Must have Service Pack 4 or above)

Please Note: Macintosh users

Our customer and technical support team does not currently support Macintosh. However, Macintosh users can normally view a ShareItNow™ Web Window when using Mac OS 9 with Netscape or Mac OS X with Internet Explorer 5.5.

Internet Connection

56K modem or faster: We recommend that ShareItNow™ Encounter Web presenters have a minimum of high-speed broadband connections whenever possible. (DSL, Cable, T1, etc.)

Internet Browser

Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.

Netscape 4.78 or above. (Netscape 6.2 has difficulties with encounter Live Meeting It may operate, but not recommended.)

Please note: Your Internet Browser must be java enabled. Windows XP does not come with the Java Virtual Machine. Please contact customer service at 1 (800) 290-5900 for assistance if you have Windows XP and need help installing java.

Your browser's cookies must be enabled.

Security

Please note that 128 Bit SSL encryption must be enabled on your browser to use ShareItNow™ Web Window.

No Pop up blockers

Pop up blockers must be disabled or removed to view the participant viewing window
How Do I Check My System?

To verify that your system will work with ShareItNow, go to:

In the lower left column, you will see an area entitled "Browser Check." Enter your email address into the blank provided, click Submit, and you will be informed both whether your browser will work with ShareItNow, and if not, what to do to make it work.

How Do I Join a Meeting?

To join a meeting or web conference...

  • Go to http://www.shareitnow.com
  • Click on the "Join a Meeting" button
  • Enter the address of the meeting. In most instances it will be training@westernseminary.edu.

Please have verified that your system is prepared to run ShareItNow as explained above, prior to the meeting or conference opening.
What About the Audio?

Typically, audio for a web conference or meeting is provided by telephone. That means you will either need to be using a broadband connection, or be able to have two phone lines...one for phone and one for the Internet.

When you register for a web conference that requires a phone bridge connection, you will be informed of the number to call before the meeting, and a PIN to give you authorized access.
