We heard you. In the several years since we introduced our disk-based multimedia courses, we have often heard from students asking to have the courses function on computers running either the Microsoft Windows or Apple Macintosh operating systems. Effective this fall, all DVD ROM courses offered through WSCLL provide full functionality on both platforms.
The new layout is a full-redevelopment based on the Adobe Flash platform. Beyond the immediate disk benefit, the Adobe format establishes the foundations necessary for future access to the expanded web-delivery of instructional courseware.
In addition to platform independence, the new course format also provides:
- Full scalability to address student learning and desktop layout preferences.
- A slide viewer that can, by student preference, be synced to the video or used separately to scroll through course graphics.
- A media "rewind" function that allows the student to go back anywhere from 10-90 seconds.
- Increased help resources, including an introductory video that introduces new course functions and options.
And we welcome your feedback. If you have ideas as to how we can improve course function or design, please send an email with your ideas to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Our appreciation for these new developments goes to Black Kidney, WSCLL's production assistant, whose skills made so much of this possible. Great work Blake!
